A hot runner controller manufacturer builds the cabinets that hold every zone of a hot runner mould at its set temperature: manifold zones, nozzle drops and, on valve gate tools, the solenoids that fire each pin in sequence. The mould makes the geometry; the controller decides whether the melt reaching it is at temperature. On valve gate moulds the pins open and close on a timer tied to the injection stroke, so the controller carries digital outputs that switch the solenoid bank in a programmed order - the sequence that removes weld lines, balances fill in family tools and cuts clamping force. Buyers specifying a valve gate controller should confirm the valve output count, per-gate timing in milliseconds, and how the sequence is triggered from the moulding machine.
Wiring, interfaces and standards
Cables terminate in standard multi-pin connectors, and mapping pin assignment to the mould wiring box before ordering avoids swapped thermocouple and heater circuits at first power-up. Look for Ethernet or RS485 plant data, USB parameter backup and mould-recognition cards that reload each tool's stored PID set. Cabinets carry CE marking against EN 61010-1 and per-zone fuses matched to the load.
