Water blasters are a seasonal product with a hard deadline. A buyer who misses the April shelf loses the year, so the manufacturing question is less about unit cost than about whether the tooling, the seal and the packing can all be ready in the window available.
We mould pump-action water blasters in Dongguan, with the piston, nozzle and reservoir made in the same plant so that the seal fit is not a compromise between three suppliers.
What decides performance
- Piston seal: a silicone O-ring in a machined groove, not a moulded lip
- Nozzle orifice: the single biggest lever on range and on water consumption
- Check valve: a simple ball valve that must seat at low pressure
- Reservoir cap: a bayonet fitting that seals without over-torquing
Range claims are usually quoted at 45 degrees with a full reservoir and a single hard stroke. A 1.2 mm orifice with a well-sealed piston will reach 6 to 9 metres; opening the orifice further looks impressive for one second and empties the tank in four.

Seasonal tooling
A new body shell needs 30 to 35 days of tooling plus 10 days for first articles, which is why most buyers in this category work from an existing platform and change colour, nozzle and packaging. Our standard platform covers three body sizes; a new shape is realistic only for programmes planned a full season ahead.
Leak testing
Every unit is pressure tested at 1.5 times working pressure for 30 seconds before packing, with a sample from each hour held and re-tested after 24 hours. The most common field failure is not the piston but the reservoir cap thread, which is why caps are torque tested on the assembly line rather than by hand feel.
Compliance and market notes
Water blasters are graded for ages 3 and above in most markets, and for 6 and above where the pump pressure is high. Where the toy is aimed at the US market, the nozzle and cap are designed so that they cannot accept a standard bottle thread. Products are tested to the standard the buyer specifies, with reports issued by a laboratory appointed by the buyer. Summer ranges are usually shipped February to April, and capacity is booked against a confirmed order rather than a forecast.
