Cable management is the most bought and least considered category in office accessories. The parts are small, the price is low, and the specification is entirely about fit: the box has to fit the desk it is screwed under, the grommet has to fit the hole that is already drilled, the clip has to hold a cable bundle without marking it, and the wrap has to survive being flexed every time a laptop is moved. None of it is hard to mould; all of it is easy to get wrong at the dimension.

Cable boxes: the desk interface is the product
An under-desk cable box is a tray with a lid, and the dimension that decides whether it sells is the mounting: screw holes that match the desk underside the programme targets, and a depth that clears the desk's own understructure. Most programmes quote against a desk sample rather than a drawing, and we ask for that sample before cutting the tool, because a box that fits the drawing but not the desk is scrap. The lid is usually a snap fit with a cable exit slot, and the slot is the part that cracks first when a bundle is forced through it, so the exit is radiused and ribbed.
Grommets: the hole already exists
A desk grommet fits a hole that someone else drilled, which means the tolerance is inherited rather than specified. Grommets are moulded with a TPE lip that takes up the gap between the part and the hole, and the lip is the part that has to stay compressed for the life of the desk. Two grommet families cover the market: the round drop-in type and the rectangular type with a hinged brush or slot seal for desks where cables are plugged and unplugged. The hinged version is a living-hinge moulding and follows the hinge rules: flow across the web, generous root radius, no weld line in the hinge.

Clips: the cushion is the specification
A wire clip is a moulded C with a cushion inside, and the cushion decides whether it holds a cable without marking it. The cushion is a TPE insert moulded into the clip or a separately moulded pad snapped in, and the insert route is cheaper at volume while the pad route lets the programme change the cushion material without a new tool. The mounting is the other half: adhesive pads hold on a clean desk and fail on a textured one, so programmes that sell into the furniture channel quote the screw-mount version as the default and the adhesive version as the accessory.
Wraps and the flex life
Cable wraps are flexed every time a device is moved, and the failure mode is cracking at the hinge or at the hook. The wrap is a PP or TPE part with either a living hinge or a moulded hook, and both are cycle-tested on the first article to the quoted count because the cycle that fails is never the first one. Programmes that sell to the IT channel quote the wrap in a TPE compound with a stated low-temperature flexibility, because an office wrap that cracks in a January server room is a return.
Compliance and colour matching
Office accessories declare to REACH for the material stream, and the compound declaration covers the PP, ABS and TPE as separate lots. Colour matching is the practical compliance issue in this category: office programmes buy against a desk or a system-furniture colour, and a part that is close but not matching is unsellable, so we hold a physical master per programme and match under a stated light source with a delta-E target in the quality agreement. Where the programme sells into multiple regions, the master is held per region, because the reference colour travels badly.
